CES 2025: Day Three Preview
Fun, unexpected discoveries from the show floors
Hello and welcome back to our CES 2025 coverage! As the show gets into its third (and second-to-last) day, we are seeing more deep-cut gadgets, especially those from the lesser-known manufacturers and smaller product categories, start to bubble up and grab some eyeballs. These unexpected discoveries on the show floors are an essential part of what makes CES always fun and exciting to walk through. But first, a recap of the three keynotes that took place on Wednesday.
Day Two Keynotes
On Wednesday morning, Volvo Group took the keynote stage to share their vision for the future of mobility, with a focus on their push toward net-zero emissions. Volvo reiterated its unique three-pronged approach to fossil-free transportation: electric battery, hydrogen fuel cells, and combustion engines running on renewable biofuels. You can watch the full keynote presentation here. Another noteworthy announcement coming out of this keynote is that the Swedish carmaker is still going ahead with its plan for a truck factory in Mexico despite Trump's tariff threats.
In the afternoon, Accenture’s Chair and CEO Julie Sweet took the stage with Kinsey Fabrizio, president of the CTA, for a wide-ranging fireside chat on how AI, cloud computing, and new ways of working will transform lives on a global scale. They talked about how Accenture is actively pursuing the use of agentic AI for marketing automation and optimization, and highlighted Accenture’s ongoing partnership with NVIDIA to develop cutting-edge agentic AI deployment.
Over at the C-Space, SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz was joined by popular podcaster, Crime Junkie’s Ashley Flowers, for a discussion on the intersection of technology, creativity, and storytelling in audio. You can watch (or simply listen to) their keynote session here.
Fun Discoveries from the Show Floors
What if you never had to charge your phone again? This boxy, toaster-sized device, named The Swippitt, can quickly swap out the battery in your phone case for a freshly charged one. The hub itself will cost you $450, which contains five batteries, and the corresponding phone case with a battery included will cost $120. A bit pricey for the convenience it provides, but it’s a well-executed novel idea that some power users will appreciate.
Speaking of well-executed novel ideas, Anker, a prominent portable battery brand, came up with a beach umbrella made out of “next-gen perovskite cells” so that it doubles as a solar charging station. Paired with the air-cooled electric cooler they just announced, Anker is promising a perfect beach day where the sun keeps your phones and speakers charged, and keep your drinks cool instead of warming them up.
Riding the wave of smart glasses buoyed by Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses, Halliday’s newly revealed smart glasses take a slightly different approach, beaming text and images right into your eyeball, as opposed to projecting everything onto the lenses.
And if you’re looking for a gift for the aspiring writer in your life, look no further. Astrohaus has created a special keyboard for writers, with a focus on productivity. Its new Freewrite Wordrunner keyboard has word count and timing mechanisms built into a mechanical keyboard to give you another option when trying to hit the deadline.
It wouldn’t be CES without a cohort of quirky, adorable pet tech solutions. Pawport’s Smart Pet Door has been upgraded with an additional exterior door and other changes to better protect against inadvertent animal friends following after your own. Meanwhile, Petcube’s new water fountain claims to provide “nearly 100% water purification” to protect your cats from developing kidney issues. Oh, and LG has made an air purifier that doubles as a cat tree, because why not?
Coming Up on Thursday (and Friday)
As we head into the final stretch of CES 2025, with no more big, official keynote session left on the schedule, we expect less big news but more reflections and discussions on the trends and discoveries that emerged from the show floor this week.
The Lab will be wrapping up our CES content session today, so be sure to stop by and check us out if you get the chance. We promise you’ll learn a thing or two about the mobility and entertainment industries.
Otherwise, we’d highly recommend heading down to the convention center again later today to beat the crowds and once again, take in this glorious annual celebration of innovation and creativity before you leave. You just might find something interesting that you missed before.
Thus concludes our daily dispatches from CES 2025, Thank you for following along! Check back early next week for the Lab’s comprehensive post-event trend recap on this CES.
